Dr. Arnold Naimark Honoured for
Excellence in Public Adminstration

was awarded the 2001 Lieutenant Governor's Medal for
Excellence in Public Adminstration In Manitoba

Dr. Arnold Naimark, O.C., former President of the University of Manitoba, Founding Member of FCIHR, and current Director of the Centre for the Advancement of Medicine, has been awarded the 2001 Lieutenant Governor's Medal for Excellence in Public Administration in Manitoba by the Institute of Public Administration of Canada.

His Honour the Honourable Peter M. Liba, C.M., O.M., Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, presented Dr. Naimark with his Medal at a noon-hour ceremony on June 27th, 2001 at the Legislative Building.

Liba said, "Dr. Naimark's name is synonymous with public service.  He has made sustained and significant contributions to the public sector in diverse roles and fields spanning over 50 years.  He truly exemplifies the spirit of the Lieutenant Governor's Medal of Excellence."

Dr. Naimark's achievements over the years include Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba (1971-1981), Founding Chair of the Canadian Health Sciences Research Foundation, and Chair of the North Portage Development Corporation (1983-1993).
