Symposium and the "Ottawa Evening" 2003 attract record attendance

29 May 2003

A very successful Symposium/Public Forum 2003 on "The Translation of Genomic Science to Social Well-Being and Human Health" was held May 14, 2003 at the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa followed by the "Ottawa Evening" reception and dinner at the Chateau Laurier. We were pleased to welcome approximately 150 high school students and their teachers from the Ottawa area to the Symposium.

The "Ottawa Evening" reception was sponsored by Genome Canada and the CIHR. We are pleased to report record attendance, the largest turn-out ever at the evening, which was ably emceed by Senator Laurier LaPierre. A number of student science fair award winners were also recognized. The late Dr. Charles Hollenberg was honored with the FCIHR Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Arnold Naimark was the keynote and featured speakers at both events.
