January 22, 2003 - The Health Research Advocacy Network (HRAN), a national coalition of teaching hospitals, universities, physicians, researchers, volunteers and charities (of which FCIHR is a founding member), today called on First Ministers to invest in Canada's health research enterprise. Coinciding with the call for support, HRAN released the final version of the report Health Research: An Investment in Canada's Well-Being (42 page, 939 KB PDF format). This comprehensive analysis documents the many achievements being made in health research and calls for a minimum of one percent of Canada's health care spending ($1 billion) to be directed to health research, specifically through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
