The Henry G. Friesen International Prize in Health Research is the joint initiative of Friends of Canadian Institutes of Health Research (FCIHR) and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS). The Prize was established to recognize the vision and distinguished leadership of Dr. Henry G. Friesen, a renowned Canadian endocrinologist and medical scientist, to develop the concept that became the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. The Prize will be awarded annually and announcement of the inaugural winner was made on July 12, 2006.
